Whatever your diet requires of you, one thing is for sure – eating too late can impair your sleep quality. So, what shouldn’t you eat? Here are 7 foods to stop eating after 9 p.m.:

Chocolate

If you are not planning to work out before going to bed, there is no point in eating such fats as chocolate which contains both high sugar content and high calorific value. Also, the effort to digest all this sugar can cost you sleep.

Pasta

White flour pasta is less satisfying than whole wheat products, or other grains, due to the lack of dietary fiber, so the portion eaten will usually be very large and high in calories accordingly. All these fats will just be stored in your body during the night and will cause you heaviness feeling that might make you not fall asleep.

Fruit juices

What happens in these juices is that we lose the nutritional fiber, vitamins, and minerals from the fruits and we end up with mostly sugar. It’s delicious, but less nutritionally recommended, probably before bed.

Milk

Milk is high in lactose content. Lactose is a type of sugar, and we don’t want to consume too much sugar before we go to bed, because it will cause digestive overload.

Chili

Spicy chili will cause some discomfort in your stomach. You do not want to eat things that will irritate your stomach too much during your sleep.

Pizza

The oil, dough, and sauces that are put on top of it can completely ruin your sleep. If it is due to heartburn, heaviness, and stomach pain – eating pizza and going straight to bed is very difficult to impossible. You have to give your body a few hours to digest what it has been through before going to sleep, otherwise, your stomach will hurt even the next day.

Steak

It’s important to remember that it’s never easy to eat steak, and you always feel the heaviness after you eat it. The digestive process is much less effective at bedtime so it’s not recommended to eat such a heavy meal before bedtime.

overall before bed, you should stick to light food that can be easily digested and will make you sleep safe and sound.
